Ed-Tech Babble is written by J. Derek Larson. Derek is a husband, father, educator, nerd, and musician trying to get through this crazy life and enjoy as much of it as possible.
He currently works as a Library Media Coordinator and Digital Learning Coach at an intermediate school (6th and 7th grades only) in Southwest Utah. Previously, he served as the Educational Technology Director at a regional service center in Southwest Utah and before that he taught 4th and 5th grade, also in Southern Utah, and tried to include as much technology as possible. Derek feels kids need to be taught the basics of education; Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies, with as many opportunities to include technology as possible because that is where life is headed. If teachers ignore the technology components, they are failing their students.
This blog will be used to share Derek's thoughts and feelings about technology, education, and any other types of "babble" that may come across his mind. The site will also deal with how technology can and should be used in the classroom. He will not always be right and you may not always agree with him, but it doesn't really matter. All that matters is that the "Ed-Tech Babble" has an outlet.
If you enjoy what you read, please feel free to comment. If you dislike what you read, please feel free to comment. Basically, the idea is for this to be a place where discussions can occur so that others can steal your ideas just like a good teacher should!
